ABOUT BASIC ANATOMY FOR THE NON-MEDICAL ERGONOMIST

Basic Anatomy for the Non-Medical Ergonomist is an essential resource for the non-medical, non-clinical ergonomist.

A deeper understanding of how the body works will improve the quality of any ergonomics recommendation. By identifying and encouraging correct postures and behaviors that promote healthy movement and circulation, the ergonomist helps to keep the worker functioning safely and efficiently, thus preventing compensable, work-related injuries.

The time frame for completing the online course is 30 days for each participant. 2 Contact Hours CE.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • Name the key concepts and terms related to Healthy Anatomy.

  • Describe the body's ability to safely adapt to work tasks.

  • Relate the role a healthy musculoskeletal system plays in injury prevention.

  • Outline a basic understanding of how the healthy body functions.

  • Report the effects that standing & sitting postures used during Dynamic and Static tasks  have on the spine, arms and legs.

I already am incorporating the new knowledge from this workshop into my ergonomics work with employees. Sharpeningmy understanding of the basic anatomy helps me better make recommendations in positioning and equipment foremployees, and when an employee expresses something that presents an ergonomics "curve ball," having a betterunderstanding of anatomy helps to improve my ability to "hit" that curve ball and help that employee become morecomfortable at work.
