There are a number of ways that you may bill for Ergonomics Assessments. Always be CONSISTENT in the way you price services for clients. If not, they may discuss the discrepancy and it can cost you business.
If you bill an insurance company you may use CPT Code #97537. It is called Community/work reintegration training Work environment/modification analysis, work task analysis. The fee is $55 per fifteen (15) minute units of time.
Using the above guidelines most people charge $150-$225 per hour or $1200- $1800 per day, PLUS travel expenses, travel time (Billed at 50% of your hourly fee) and handout material expenses.
Ergonomic Assessment Billing Rate Suggestions
Charge per assessment- You may estimate the amount of time that it will take to complete the assessment and report and establish a fee. For office assessments it is typically a 2-3 hour charge or $400-$600 per evaluation & report. For industrial/manufacturing it may be harder to estimate a per assessment charge. Most assessments of this type will take 4 hours or more, so fees generally start at $600+.
Charge a percentage of their savings in the workers compensation fund premium or reserve account.
Consider a monthly retainer of $1000-$2000 where the client may begin with a pilot program for their facility.
ALWAYS ask for MORE than you want to receive. That will give you some room to negotiate.
